This is a versatile and generic method worth memorizing. ls -d *.JPG | sed -s 's/\(.*\).JPG$/mv"&" "\1.jpg"/' and when you want to execute it put a pipe to 'sh' ls -d *.JPG | sed -s 's/\(.*\).JPG$/mv"&" "\1.jpg"/' | sh |
